HOMO FABER 2026 E-CATALOGUE
The tranquil Cypress Cloister was once a place of prayer and study for the Benedictine monks who lived in this former monastery and would respond to the call to prayer given by the bells of San Giorgio’s basilica. Inspired by this history, displayed around the cloister walls are 20 artworks recreating cymatic patterns formed by the vibrations of 20 bells. Each is made in a different craft by a maker from a different country, showcasing international talent as diverse as textile weaving from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, straw marquetry from Denmark, woodcarving from Saudi Arabia and stained glass from Australia. Together, these artworks highlight a huge range of skill, technique, cultural influence and artistic vision, while at the same time revealing the common inspirations that unite artisans all over the world.
