Silent Song 4 was embroidered from individual silk strips, stitched separately before being assembled into straight and clear-cut lines to produce a shallow relief across the surface. Seeker Li’s interpretation of Es Devlin’s design, incorporating dynamic elements that follow rotational principles, showcases his innovative approach to traditional Chinese embroidery. Overlaying a variation rhythm onto the original structure, he introduces a contrast between symmetry and asymmetry, order and disorder, stillness and motion.
