Glass, Lead
Silent Song 16 was crafted from Saint-Just mouth blown antique glass, assembled in a traditional lead came matrix. The combination of seedy, craquelle, striated and reamy glass creates captivating optical distortions. Geoffrey Wallace’s reading of Es Devlin’s design is expressed through two overlapping planes of stained glass. The broad areas of colourless glass and deliberate imperfections in the front panel distort the coloured panel behind it. Together, the layered surfaces create a kinetic sense of depth.
