Silent Song 11

Silent Song 11 offers a contemporary take on Najdi doors, an ancient woodworking craft from central Saudi Arabia, through its geometric carving, hand forged metal fittings and balanced proportions. Ahmed Alfawzan and his son Abdullah recreated Es Devlin’s design through the visual and symbolic language of Najdi doors. The doorknob at the heart of the panel is an invitation to cross a threshold, while golden nails punctuate perforations and cutouts across the surface, translating the propagation of sound into space.
