Silent Song 18

Silent Song 18 was crafted on the reverse side of a glass panel using the verre églomisé gilding technique. White and moon gold leaf, palladium and caplain were further enhanced with mica flakes and powders, glass beads, mother-of-pearl, artist oils and japans. Miriam Ellner developed Es Devlin’s design through the ethereal medium of glass. The surface explores reflectivity, opacity and translucency as it vibrates with a soft kaleidoscopic symmetry that transforms continuously in appearance as the time of day and the viewpoint change.
