As part of Homo Faber in Città’s city-wide programme, Casa Sanlorenzo – the cultural headquarters of Sanlorenzo Arts overlooking the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute – serves as a key partner venue for Homo Faber 2026. Conceived as a permanent platform for dialogue between art, design and sustainability, Casa Sanlorenzo hosts two exhibitions during Homo Faber 2026: An Island of Light – one dedicated to the remarkable master artisans of Venice and the Veneto, curated by Artemest, and another presenting craftspeople from Luxembourg, curated by De Mains De Maîtres Luxembourg.

A concert inspired by the exhibition's floral creations, featuring Jérémie Moreau, Léon Blekh and Alexander Warenberg, followed by a cocktail reception in Simone Crestani's exhibition as part of The Venice Glass Week at Palazzo Contarini Polignac. A rare early Renaissance palace attributed to Giovanni Buora, Palazzo Contarini Polignac dazzles with its marble façade. Once home to Princess Winnaretta de Polignac's legendary salon, it hosted Stravinsky, Smyth and Europe's musical avant-garde.

The first book focuses on Venice Gardens Foundation’s restoration of the Royal Gardens, revived as a thriving ecosystem, full of biodiversity, beauty and public life. The second one retraces the area’s historic transformations. The Serra is an elegant architectural landmark within Venice’s Royal Gardens, combining historic design with contemporary use as a space for exhibitions, research and public engagement.

Since 2006, Ravenna's CaCO3 collective has explored mosaic as a contemporary medium, seeking new possibilities of matter and light in dialogue with archaeological conservation and restoration. Exhibition curated by Daniele Torcellini. The only working furnace in Venice's historic centre, Orsoni Venezia 1888 has produced glass smalti and 24-karat gold-leaf mosaics since 1888. Domus Orsoni now hosts the Orsoni Art & Culture exhibition programme.

Drag Drag On the Zattere in Dorsoduro, Lo Studio – Nadja Romain is a project space and gallery where contemporary art, design and architecture engage with Venice’s enduring traditions of making. Ensemble Vocale Harmonia Cordis, conducted by Jacopo Facchini, performs sacred Renaissance and 20th-century polyphony and Gregorian chant by composers Palestrina, Weerbeke, Morales, Gjeilo, Stravinsky and Refice. The church of San Zulian, tucked away in the eponymous campo in San Marco, was founded in the 10th century and rebuilt several times. Its current form dates to the 16th century.

Organised by Luisa Conventi, this event explores the lives and work of the Impiraresse – women who strung Venetian glass beads – through exhibition and performance, tracing a journey from history to a fantastical future of beads in cosmic space. San Francesco della Vigna is a serene Franciscan church in Venice's Castello district and one of the city's finest Renaissance landmarks, with a Palladian façade, active in promoting citizen activities, and a quiet campo of history and architecture.

In a collaboration between Fortuny and San Patrignano, wallpaper reveals rare evidence of the human hand. Meet the artisans for a live demonstration of this hand-printed collection born of artistic heritage, exacting craft and shared purpose. Opened by artist Mariano Fortuny in 1921, the original factory on Giudecca island continues to produce the famous fabrics with the techniques and machines invented by Fortuny over a century ago.

The Music Circles present an intimate salon concert dedicated to Mozart and inspired by Lorenz Boegli’s triptych, with pianist Jérémie Moreau and quintet Léon Blekh, Joep van Beijnum, Lucas Aerts, Pierre Fontenelle and Julita Fassseva. An early Renaissance palace with a marble façade inspired by Tuscan classicism, Palazzo Contarini Polignac was once Winnaretta Singer's salon, hosting Stravinsky and Smyth.

Curated by Yuji Akimoto, Artistic Director of Go for Kogei, ten Japanese artists explore material-driven, craft-based approaches and examine how making can restore a sense of time and physical perception in an accelerated society. Located in Venice’s Cannaregio district, Palazzo Pisani Santa Marina is a historic palace in a quiet residential area within walking distance of the Rialto and other major cultural sites in Venice.

This movement-based performance imagines a relationship between body and material, based on listening, respect, and mutual transformation. Through this work, folklore, mythology, symbolism, artisan knowledge, and traditional practices converge. Since 2024, following extensive restoration, Palazzo Diedo has come back to life: its monumental frescoed spaces host the activities of Berggruen’s Institute of Contemporary Arts and Culture.

French artist Caroline Besse works on washi paper with mineral and gemstone pigments. These pieces, created especially for this exhibition, feature jade, serpentine and green opal powders to capture Venice’s interplay of light, water and reflection. A gallery and interior design studio in Venice, Caigo da Mar highlights handmade artisanal craftmanship that combines functionality and luxuriousness for strong visual impact.

Exhibition of the finalists of the “Beauty of Utility” prize, part of “The Great Beauty. The Dream Factory” by Starhotels. The programme is part of The Venice Glass Week and features visits to the Seguso chandeliers at historic Hotel Gabrielli. Hotel Gabrielli is one of Venice’s historic five-star hotels, which has recently been acquired and completely refurbished by Starhotels, with the involvement of local artisans.

Curated by Dries Van Noten with Geert Bruloot, this presentation unites fashion, art, design and craft to reveal the human dimension of making. Inspired by activist Phil Ochs, the title frames beauty as a catalyst for provocation and transformation. Built in the late 15th century in the Venetian Gothic Fiorito style, Palazzo Pisani Moretta, a landmark of Venetian history and architecture, is on the left bank of the Grand Canal between the Rialto Bridge and the "volta di canal" by Ca’ Foscari.

Juliette Agnel's photography reveals a microcosm in rebirth in the Convent Garden of the Most Holy Redeemer, restored by Venice Gardens Foundation, also with support from Van Cleef & Arpels – continuing the maison's patronage of Agnel since 2023. The Convent Garden of the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer on Venice’s Giudecca island is a vast and unique space stretching between the Giudecca Canal and the lagoon. The complex also includes the Meditation Chapel, Old Workshops and Greenhouse.

To mark the Tintoretto Workshop’s 40th anniversary, a special exhibition will be on view. On 5 September, books and etchings by Goya, Fini, Klinger, Rouault, Mattotti and others will be unveiled with a public talk and garden reception. Founded in 1986 beside Tintoretto's Venice home, the Workshop offers courses, including engraving, woodcut and lithography, houses a 3,000-title collection and 19th-century presses, and produces limited editions via La Stamperia.
