Pure Moon Jar; Pure Moon Jar with Cloud Pattern

These vessels by Seokhyun Jang were formed in onggi clay, by joining two hemispheres. During firing, salt and ash caused the iron in the clay and the carbon to fuse together, creating distinctive surface reactions. Grounded in the balanced proportions of Joseon Dynasty ceramics, the works reinterpret Korean pottery, while staying true to a sense of effortless harmony.
