This box by Keiji Onihira was decorated using the maki-e lacquering technique with gold powder. The surface was further enriched by raised maki-e and raden mother-of-pearl inlay. Inspired by twilight, the work captures the moment when sunrays break through the clouds and cast their radiant light upon the Earth.
