A Ray of Light - Suisei (Comet)
This is a black lacquer box in raised maki-e on a dry lacquer and wood base. Gold rays form a beam of light on one side, while abalone shell creates a rainbow effect on the other. Inside, a spider web motif is rendered with gold and silver.
