This raised jar in fine silver was inspired by the Korean moon jar tradition. 1.2mm silver sheet was cut into circles and worked through repeated sinking and raising to form a concave shape, refined gradually from the foot upwards. Continuous raising and planishing builds the full, soft volume of the curve. The rim is finished by rolling a brass rod into the opening, and the surface is burnished to a quiet, even sheen.
Homo Faber Finds is a new service aiming to inspire admirers of craft to connect and collaborate with exceptional artisans.
