14/09/2026 | 17/09/2026Exhibited in A ROOTED ASCENT
Botswanan artist Shakunona Parata practises a centuries-old basketry craft, weaving raw natural materials such as grasses and palm leaves by hand. During the live demonstration at Homo Faber 2026, Shakunona will interpret a design by Mabeo Studio, combining traditional weaving with elements such as eggshell, shells and semi-precious stones. Visitors will see how an ancestral basketry technique can be extended beyond conventional forms to create contemporary sculptural objects.
