Exhibited in A ROOTED ASCENT
Cotton, Raffia
This vase by Siyu Liu was crafted from natural raffia using pleita, a traditional basketweaving technique in which long braids are shaped, bent and joined layer by layer. The form was built gradually through stacking, in a manner comparable to 3D printing. Drawing inspiration from the desert landscapes of Morocco, the piece embodies memories of travel and adventure.
