Introduction to experimental drypoint in Bristol

with Jemma Gunning

Delve into drypoint

Drypoint, whereby a burr is created that will hold ink, belongs to the intaglio family. This is a wonderful, inexpensive and direct process often creating strong contrasting images with emphasis on the texture and quality of line. The workshop focuses on the exploration of mark making using a range of drawing tools from drypoint needles to sandpaper. You will have the opportunity to use different substrates to create your images, including aluminium, drypoint card and Perspex, which offer varying outcomes. At the end of the workshop you will have produced at least two plates printed in monochrome, explored colour and learned how to register multi-plates.
