Week-long porcelain casting workshop in Cheissoux

with Yaël Malignac & Guillaume Descoings

Introduction to casting models and moulds

During this workshop with Yaël Malignac and Guillaume Descoings, participants create models and moulds for geometric shapes, including rectangles and revolution forms. They also design exploded moulds, with specific shapes provided during training. Upon completion, participants should be able to independently craft their own moulds for simple geometric forms. Prerequisites include an interest in the technique and preferably some experience in casting or completion of the porcelain casting initiation workshop. Skills developed in the course cover defining mould parts, anticipating work stages, visualising final moulds, locating tools, mastering plaster sculpting, positioning mould sprues, implementing plaster, creating quality formwork, accurate embedding, ensuring waterproofing, and using tenons and mortises proficiently. This workshop unfolds over five days, segmented into 7-hour sessions each day, and costs 600 EUR per person. Please note that meals are not included in the price, but they can be booked during the registration process for a rate of 50 EUR for the week.
