Red Clay, Glaze, Porcelain
These vessels by Sanjar Kubaev and Alisher Nazirov were handcrafted using two distinct ceramic techniques. Azure Moonjar was shaped from Rishtan red clay, decorated with islimi vegetal motifs, and finished with an alkaline glaze. Blossoms on Water was made from semi-porcelain and coated with a crystalline glaze before undergoing a prolonged soak to promote crystal growth. Drawing on historical ceramic forms, the works reinterpret tradition through different cultural perspectives. Azure Moonjar revives the rich decorative language of Rishtan pottery, while Blossoms on Water takes inspiration from the Korean Moon Jar.
