Tree of Heaven 10

This wall sculpture by Timothy Horn was crafted from a nickel-plated bronze structure and glassblown pearls attached to its branches. The piece reinterprets the silhouette of an 18th-century French hair ornament on a monumental scale, combining it with lichen forms drawn from Ernst Haeckel’s studies of nature. Blurring the boundaries between the organic and the constructed, the natural and the artificial, the piece explores desire, adornment and the grotesque.
