Lily, Reed, Cane fibre, Cherry wood
These sculptures by Ralph Simpson were hand woven from harvested plant fibres. Day Lily Crescent was built through twining using hand-corded day lily leaves, while Pod Leaf was crafted with a dense, multi-directional weave from cherry branches. Day Lily Crescent embraces a sweeping celestial silhouette that symbolises the cyclical passage of time, bridging organic impermanence with enduring structure. Pod Leaf takes the form of a boat-shaped emblem, speaking to concepts of containment, natural drifting and the elegance of organic design.
