Wild Dog II

This installation by Debbie Lawson features a coyote crafted from Jesmonite and carpet. The sculpture was placed on a found table and set against a wall-mounted rug, so that it is partially camouflaged. Drawing on the rich imagery of Persian carpets, which often conceal plants and wild animals within their patterns, the work imagines one of these creatures emerging into the domestic interior. The piece relates to themes of camouflage, shyness and the psychological landscape of the home.
