Exhibited in AN ATELIER ALIVE
Fabric, Thread, Metal
This installation by Susie Vickery combines textile elements and metal objects within a wooden frame. The roses, the fish, the shell and the skull were executed in stylised stumpwork, a raised embroidery technique. Drawing on 17th century Dutch Golden Age still life paintings, the piece symbolises life’s precarious nature and the inevitability of death.
