White Haetae (Kewpie) is a hand built and wheel thrown ceramic sculpture that reimagines the mythical Korean creature Haetae. The sculpture’s surface is drawn and painted with underglaze, then finished with multiple crystal glazes. The piece makes reference to Kewpie dolls, Korean dumplings (mandu), and the American-Chinese restaurant fortune cookie.
