Visit a Venetian furnace

with Orsoni Venezia 1888

Diving into the countless shades of glass colours

Orsoni Venezia 1888 is a historical workshop renowned for handcrafting Venetian smalti and gold mosaic. It offers a guided tour of the only furnace still allowed to operate with fire in Venice. Visitors will be shown the various phases of the manufacturing process, depending on the furnace’s daily programme: blowing the “sbruffo” glass used to manufacture gold mosaic, making colour samples, crafting and hand cutting the gold plate, and hand cutting of the smalti. Participants will also explore Orsoni’s iconic Colour Library, a unique display of more than 3,500 colours and will see a demonstration of artistic mosaic making.
