Glass mosaics forged in fire

Orsoni is the last furnace allowed to operate with fire in the city of Venice. It’s the historic Venetian manufacturer that since its foundation in 1888 uses the same techniques to produce 24-kt gold leaf mosaics, coloured gold and Venetian “smalti”, in thousands of tones and shades. Here, glass is forged with colourants at high temperatures, giving life to Orsoni’s unique products.

The company’s “colour library” includes more than 3,500 different enamels. A multi-coloured sample panel was displayed for the first time at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1889, by the founder Angelo Orsoni and years later Gaudí used his enamels to decorate the Sagrada Familia. Orsoni proudly preserves its heritage, while concentrating on design and innovation.
