Natural dyeing course

Come to enjoy a two-day workshop in the heart of Sardinia to discover the ancient – and almost forgotten – art of natural dyeing with plants, a sustainable alternative to synthetic dyeing that is better for both health and the environment. Dyer Maurizio Savoldo welcomes participants in his laboratory, La Robbia, and explains the whole process of extracting pigments from wild, local species like madder, daphne and lavender, or from waste like onion peels. Together with him, participants will experiment with different plants and colours, learning old recipes to prepare dye baths. During this experience, Maurizio invites participants to fill out a dye recipe book that can be taken home for future use.
