Textile designer Christiana Vardakou shares her knowledge on colours and natural dyeing techniques in this collective workshop. Participants are introduced to the art of natural dyeing using four botanical sources, madder root, chamomile flowers, onion skins and acorns. They will learn how to extract colour from roots, flowers, kitchen waste and foraged plants, to create a palette of 8 distinct natural dyes. This 3.5 hour workshop covers the complete process, from fibre preparation to application, and the different shades are then tested on natural fabrics and yarns such as linen, silk, wool or cotton. Each participant leaves with their botanically dyed swatch book, collecting all the colourful experiments they learned. Please note that all materials, snacks and refreshments are included in the price.
