Malaysian artist Senia Anak Jugi practises Iban basketry and mat plaiting, one of Borneo’s longstanding weaving traditions. She works with natural materials gathered from the rainforest to create both functional and ceremonial objects. During the live demonstration at Homo Faber 2026, Senia will hand weave and plait natural fibres including bemban reed, rattan, bamboo and screwpine leaves. Visitors will discover the precision behind traditional Iban weaving and how these materials are transformed into intricate patterns and forms.
