Greenwood furniture making course near Plymouth

with Peter Lanyon

Introduction to greenwood techniques

Furniture maker Peter Lanyon has developed this course in order for both beginner and intermediate workers to experience greenwood work. During this course you will make a low stool or a side table using a variety of edge tools, starting with a fresh log that you will cleave with a froe and wedges, and shape with a drawknife and spoke shave. Depending on your skill and confidence, under Peter’s guidance you will use contrasting timbers, sculpt free-form table tops or seats. The course runs in two locations every year: at Peter’s studio in the UK and at the Cerdeira Home for Creativity in Portugal.
