In 2020, chair makers Sam Cooper and Richard Platt founded their studio in the Scottish Borders on the Marchmont Estate. There, they offer a course in making rush seating, which runs for 2 days, 8 hours per day including lunch. During the course, you will learn to install a rush seat into a frame stool or chair. The course is suitable for beginners and advanced learners alike. The price is 250 GBP if you bring your own stool or chair to be fitted. The duo can also provide you with a bare stool for an extra 100 GBP or with a bare chair in Bedales design for an extra 200 GBP. Please bring a knife for final trimming.
