Bird clips (1941-1946)

These clips by Van Cleef & Arpels were handcrafted in mirror-polished gold. Their stylised forms, from ribbon-like wings to streamlined silhouettes, express the Maison's pursuit of a graphic visual design. Rather than depicting a specific species, the pieces evoke the bird’s essential shape, movement and attitude. Their compositions reflect the ornamental language of the 1940s Retro movement.
