This sculpture by Junmin Zhu was sculpted from molten copper, quickly shaped to control the folds, holes and drips. The surfaces were refined using hand chasing, precision welding and gilding. The colours were achieved through hot colouring and glaze techniques, as well as lacquering and gold tracing. Inspired by Emperor Zhao Ji’s lychee painting, the piece embodies the elegance of the Song dynasty and conveys auspicious symbolism.
