The miniature world of the Neapolitan crib

Italian artist Marcello Aversa creates miniature clay figures and complex scenes inspired by the Neapolitan crib tradition, drawing on modelling skills rooted in his father's longstanding work with clay. During the live demonstration at Homo Faber 2026, Marcello will model miniature figures from clay by hand, depicting nativity and tavern scenes with close attention to naturalistic detail. Visitors will observe up close the precision and dexterity required to create characters measuring as little as 14 mm.
