Carving wood into lace

USA-based artist Julien Feller transforms solid wood into exceptionally delicate sculptures through a distinctive form of woodcarving. His intricate work creates a trompe-l’œil effect in which the material appears to be as intricate and light as lace. During the live demonstration at Homo Faber 2026, Julien will showcase his carving process. Raw wood, finished samples of his work and a selection of gouges will allow visitors to follow the process up close.
