Lace Nº8

This sculpture by Julien Feller was carved from wood, alternating openwork and solid forms. Select elements were enhanced with applications of gold leaf. Imitating lace in this trompe-l’œil, the piece depicts a pheasant just about to take flight, emerging from an intricate arrangement of leaves, flowers and intertwining branches.
