Pleats Vase Cinnabar Red

This vase by Didi Ng Wing Yin was crafted from solid spruce wood, which was split and carved following the grain. The resulting pleated surface was brushed, ink-dyed and finished with shellac. By exposing the tree’s growth rings, the work celebrates the material’s intrinsic aesthetics and organic character. While the fabric-like texture lends the vessel a sense of lightness and fragility, its structure remains strong.
