Embroidering to make fashion history
With an exceptional heritage written into the history of fashion, Maison Lesage is one of the most renowned embroidery houses in France. The atelier creates refined embroideries and tweeds destined for the world of haute couture, ready-to-wear and accessories, their savoir-faire embodying the excellence of craftsmanship. It all started in 1858, with embroiderer Michonet, who along with his assistant Marie-Louise Lesage, supplied the first great couturiers. In 1924, she and her husband Albert took over the atelier and created Lesage & Cie. With their creative visions, they developed new embroidery designs and introduced an avant-garde approach to the craft.
In 1983, the encounter with Karl Lagerfeld marked a new turn for Lesage & Cie, and paved the way for a lifelong collaboration with CHANEL, who called on the embroiderers' distinct expertise. François Lesage, son of Marie-Louise and Albert, who greatly contributed to Lesage's growth, opened a textile workshop in 1996, which rapidly became renowned for its unique know-how in sophisticated tweed weavings. Today, through the treasured transmission of this rare savoir-faire, the House of Lesage continues to bolster the world of fashion.
