This sculpture by Yichen Li was crafted from wood using mortise-and-tenon joinery, leaving no visible fixings. The surface was finished with 24-carat gold leaf. Inspired by the spirits of the Shanhaijing classic text, the work depicts a dragon-horse clad in armour, distilling the idea of guardianship into a resolute presence watching over the darkness.
