This vessel by Zechao Han was coil built and fired, before applying three layers of slip using masking techniques to create a stratified surface effect. Following a second firing, the surface was sandblasted and polished to reveal a weathered texture. Evoking the layered surfaces of peeling walls, the piece combines a strong physical presence with textures that suggest traces of history and the passage of time.
