Banana Tower A

This is a 3D jiseung piece using a plastic banana form mounted on a stand. Inspired by the sight of bananas hanging densely from a tree before harvest, Young Soon Lee covered the structure using the Korean jiseung technique and transformed it into an artwork. To create it, Korean hanji paper, including pages from old books, was rubbed and twisted by hand into cords and applied strand by strand over the surface.
