Stone

This piece is an item of wood carving with stone as its motif. After being carved into a stone-like mass using chisels and gouges, a rotary tool is used to engrave minute surface irregularities at the millimetre scale. Fine, intricate undulations spread across the surface, and the interplay of light and shadow produces texture with a sense of depth.
