Vowel
In this palm-sized sculpture made of clay, the surface retains the raw texture of the earth, with a base of black across which variations of grey to white spread unevenly. These traces are left by the action of fire, taking on a quality that resembles painting. Shaped by hand in darkness, relying solely on touch to form an irregular, rounded form, the piece is fired through open-air pit firing.
