Shard vase 1

This object reflects people’s interdependency on one another, by using earthenware and porcelain, two materials that are are not usually compatible. The tall black vase is formed using earthenware and is glazed on the inside to make it functional. Porcelain shards are embedded in the object’s surface. Earthenware is often viewed as an inferior material to porcelain, but in this object it is not subservient to porcelain, but bears and supports the porcelain shards.
