Guided talk on instrument making in Greece

with Nikos Fronimopoulos

Learn about traditional instrument making techniques

During a private guided tour, Nikos Fronimopoulos invites you to discover all the stages of making a traditional instrument. From the design of the model and the making of the mould, to the sound box, fingerboard, decorations, glue and varnish, the whole process will be covered. Nikos will also make a demonstration of powder tuning: a specific method used to visualise and test the vibration modes of the lid (Chladni patterns). This will be followed by a questions and answers session for any questions and queries. If the participants are eager to learn more, the discussion can be extended to the ethics and techniques of conserving antique musical instruments.
