Plunge into the history of Lega ceramics

Plunge into the history of ceramics with a visit to Museo Lega. Next to Ceramiche Lega’s workshop in Faenza, nowadays run by young Martina Scarpa, the museum is dedicated to her grandfather, founder of the brand, Leandro Lega. He was one of the most renowned ceramicists of the late 20th century in Italy. Born in 1924, Leandro worked with ceramics for more than 40 years, becoming famous for creating the so-called 'Lega red', a peculiar shade of red obtained by the reduction firing technique, that has been the artisan's signature ever since. The museum traces the history of the man and the artisan, by showcasing many of his creations along with period documents, pictures and newspapers about his activities, awards and exhibitions. Please note that this experience is free but must be booked in advance.
