Book restoration course near Liverpool

Participants will learn all about topics such as the safe breakdown of a book; paper and page repairs and joint tacketing, in which several holes are drilled into the joint, angled so they come out onto the shoulder of the spine. Other topics that will be covered are colour matching techniques when retaining original boards for cloth and leather re-backing, as well as cleaning and polishing methods. Books for repair can be provided, but students are welcome to bring along their own projects to tackle.
