Underneath the geometric, formal surfaces of Leah Jensen's pots is a blend of storytelling, geometry, and playful critique of technology. Leah's ceramics often surprise viewers because they are carved in such a complex way, that it might seem a machine made them. This precision, though unplanned at first, has become central to her practice. "I push myself to make each piece more exact," explains Leah. It is a time-consuming process that requires endurance, skill and a willingness to take big risks, as one mistake could ruin an entire work and all the hours that went before. Leah finds contentment working directly with her hands, having gradually moved away from machinery. In her practice today, she embraces a tactile connection with materials, which brings her a deeper understanding of her craft.
