Lauren: I work primarily with natural fibres, and often return to Fair Trade hemp. I am drawn to its raw tactility. It feels grounding, organic and deeply honest in the hand. I also collect small ceramics and found trinkets that we embed into our interknot. Kass: We love weaving with natural plant fibres such as hand-twisted raffia, hemp and coconut husk. But we also upcycle materials and fabrics. These fabrics have already been lived in. Once cut, torn and rewoven, they are given new stories in our works.

Both: Being resourceful and breathing 'new life into the old' is just one way we can reduce textile waste. It also challenges us to be more innovative with our designs and fibre curations. The result is that no two creations are alike and that it is impossible to replicate them.

Kass: ‘Well made’ begins with quality fibres. It is handmade and artisan at its core. Something created with intention. The term carries the unmistakable mark of the hand and the quiet evidence of a human presence. Lauren: And beyond all of that, it evokes emotion. You feel the urge to reach out and touch it.
