First steps in bobbin lacemaking in Montesilvano
With Simona Iannini
Create a three-dimensional flower in Tombolo Aquilano lace
Enjoy an immersive experience in Tombolo Aquilano, the bobbin lacemaking technique developed in L’Aquila in 15th century Italy. Under the guidance of Simona Iannini, you will become familiar with a fascinating technique that has remained unchanged for centuries. Tombolo Aquilano belongs to the family of Torchon lace. The lace is obtained by interweaving a number of threads attached to bobbins according to a pattern outlined on a pricking card that is pinned to a pillow. Participants in the beginner’s course are provided the tools and thread to create a coloured flower to take home as a souvenir. This course costs 60 EUR and lasts 2 hours.
