Metal weaving classes on a circular loom in Providencia
Join artisan Atis Sáez in this one module course, to learn metal weaving using a tubular technique. It is a textile technique applied to metal, working with both a manual circular loom and a larger one. The circular loom serves as a support to create regular and fast tubular weaving, which is ideal for producing large-scale textiles. This technique allows for the creation of cords and fabrics that can be shaped and also experimented with the combination of textile fibres and beads. Elements can be added due to the support provided by the loom. It is highly suitable for decorative objects and jewellery. The course is run as two sessions of three hours each.

Join Atis Sáez in this workshop where textile techniques are applied to metal through the use of fine copper and silver wires. Divided into two modules and under the guidance of master artisan, Atis, you will learn all the techniques to craft different pieces on your own. In this hands-on workshop, what you will learn is a form of knitting, similar to traditional crochet or knitting with needles. In the first module of this course, you will learn how to crochet in a tubular form using a technique derived from cord-making. Basic stitches will also be taught to create tubular weaves, including single crochet and double crochet stitches. In the second module, you will learn how to increase, decrease, and shape the weave to create voluminous forms. The technique you will learn can be applied in jewellery-making. Each module is made up of two classes lasting three hours each.
