An Australian family legacy in glass
Established in 1990 by glass artists Eileen Gordon and Grant Donaldson in Numurkah, Victoria, Gordon Studio Glassblowers is one of Australia's most celebrated glass ateliers. Today, from the workshop based in Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsula, Eileen and Grant work together with their sons Hamish Donaldson and Calum Donaldson, Eileen’s brother Kevin Gordon, and her 90-year-old mother, Rish.
Gordon Studio Glassblowers creates sculptures, awards, tableware, decorations and memorial glass, but each maker brings their own style and techniques across hot and cold work. Often collaborating and always supporting each other, the artisans set out to share and nurture the ancient art of glassblowing through education. “Our goal is to surprise and delight visitors and supporters afar. We want to keep our own family story alive as well as making beautiful art glass to decorate homes and gardens,” Eileen and Grant say. The atelier held an exhibition titled Blowing in a New Era: Three Generations, One Family in 2025 at McClelland Sculpture Park, and published a book with the same name.
