Moon Over the Pacific 1; Moon Over the Pacific 2

These vases by Heidi Tarver were crafted by applying thin paper clay sheets, previously printed with a multilayered geometric pattern, onto moulded clay jar forms. Thousands of tiny coloured spheres and tendrils were then individually applied to the surfaces. Drawing on the shifting hues and textures of the Pacific Ocean, the pieces evoke both its vastness and volatility. They reflect on beauty and the tension between wonder and vulnerability that defines the present moment.
