These vessels by Ernst Gamperl were turned on a lathe from green hardwood. As the thin-walled forms dried naturally, they warped and cracked into unique sculptural shapes. The cracks were stabilised with visible keys, and the surfaces were treated to create distinctive textures. Embodying the tension between the material's force and the fragility of their forms, the pieces reflect the balance between control and surrender, human intent and nature's will.
